It gives us immense pleasure to announce the results of the Cube Strength Competition held for the Final and Pre-final Year Engineering students at ICI-Kochi. The event was a joint initiative by our team in association with The Indian Concrete Institute, Kochi Centre, BASF Ltd, and India Cements Ltd.The Following Engineering colleges from Kochi Region participated in the competition
RIT, Kottayam - 4 Team, 20 Students
Amal Jyothi - 8 Team, 40 Students
Sree Buddha - 6 Team 30 Students
Mangalam College of Engineering - 5 Team, 25 Students
Saint Gitts - 3 Team, 15 Students
A total of 23 Teams, comprising of 130 students in total participated for the event here. Ingredients such as OPC Cement, Admixtures, and PFA were supplied by our Kottayam Branch along with India Cements Ltd.and BASF Ltd. Trials were conducted at respective colleges and ICI observers were sent to colleges to observe the Trials, Plastic properties of Concrete and Cube casting. The students cured the cubes for 28 days and the same was tested at our Branch at Kottayam. On 12th April 2018, the Award ceremony was conducted at the Seminar Hall of Amal Jyothi College of Engineering and Technology. Sixty-Five delegates including students, PG students and staff attended the function. Welcome address and a brief introduction of the speaker was given by Sr. Claramma Rosary, Head of Civil Engineering Department, Amal Jyothi College Of Engineering. Er Jaswanth S, General Manager South, BASF Ltd delivered a talk on- “ Smart Dynamic Concrete”. Er Siddhesh Kamat, Head Technical, Qcrete Readymix ( India) Pvt Ltd gave a brief Presentation on the Cube strength competition. Er. Mathukutty Sebastian BASF Ltd declared the winners of the competition, while Er Jaswant S and Er Siddhesh Kamat distributed the Trophy and certificates to all winners. Er Benjamin Xavier, Associate Professor, Amal Jyothy College of Engineering and Technology proposed the vote of thanks.
